Scott Peterson

January 28, 1956 — March 8, 2020

Scott died peacefully March 8, 2020. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Donald and Carol Dillingham. He was the oldest of five children: Camie Hinkle (preceded in death), and Ricky (preceded in death at infancy).  He is survived by Chuck (Lori) and Lisa (Roger). An Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He grew up in Taylorsville, UT, graduated from Cottonwood High School and enlisted into the Marine Corps where he was stationed in Hawaii. He earned many accounting certificates and held managerial positions in the Salt Lake and Southern California areas. He was affiliated and participated in many organizations throughout the Salt Lake Valley focusing on equal rights, as he was a huge advocate for those without representation. Within the last few years, as his health declined, he moved from Palm Springs, California back to his hometown of Salt Lake City.

Scott was talented in many ways, some of his greatest talents were cooking, gardening, entertaining and creating floral arrangements. He had a deep love for dogs that he referred to as his “babies”, which were his children, and he treated them as such. His admiration and appreciation of classic cars, particularly for Cadillacs and Lincoln’s, was considerable as he owned a few throughout his lifetime. His character and sense of humor had a way of resonating with others and will continue to do so now that he’s gone. He will be greatly missed by many.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Nikerbocker for her unconditional love and support.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
