Ray Dunn

Our loving husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, neighbor, friend and son of our Heavenly Father, Ray Dunn, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019 at home in Payson, Utah. He was 90 years old. Ray was born August 11, 1929 to Sylvan John and Vera Hobbs Dunn and was the seventh of eight children. He was raised in Midvale, Utah.

Ray married the love of his life, Anita Rose, on October 10, 1950 in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shortly after their wedding, he served in the U.S. Army and became a veteran of the Korean War.

Ray was a wonderful dad, grandpa and “grandpa great.” He loved his family and his family loved him. He is survived by his wife, Anita, his twin brother, Roy, daughters, Alayna (Brian) Olson and Lisa (Loren) Patterson, his son, Jaren (Jeni) Dunn, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He served in many callings in the church. He was a beloved bishop and a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. Ray was truly a disciple of Jesus Christ and blessed others through his righteous service and example.

Ray loved the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting and fishing. He especially cherished time he spent fly fishing with his son, Jaren. John Wayne movies were his favorite and he could never read enough Louis L’Amour novels.

The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at the V.A. Hospital and express their gratitude to Ray’s home health care staff, Sasha, Stacey and Josh, for the special care he received. Special thanks go to the many kind acts of service given by neighbors, friends and ward members, as well. We are especially grateful to Carol and Carl Ringger who provided countless acts of love and service in so many ways.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Payson Mt. View Stake Center located at 75 South 600 East, Payson, Utah. A viewing will take place beforehand from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. Interment: Veterans Cemetery, Bluffdale, Utah.
