Edmund " Eddie" Richardson

August 2, 1964 — October 8, 2021

What we miss—

His lift-you-off-your-feet hugs. His deep, hearty laugh. His persistent kindness. His willingness to drop everything to help a friend. His cheerful craziness. His counsel.

He is gone too soon, and we weep at his passing, even though we know he would tell us not to.

On Friday, October 8, we lost Eddie, our dad, brother, son, cousin, friend. He had been sick, but we expected a full recovery and to be reunited with him soon, but instead he is reunited with his beloved ancestors.

Our hearts are heavy as we remember the times we were comforted by his advice and testimony, by the memories we had of when we were young and especially the good times we have shared with him over the past couple years. So many plans have been cut short; so many second chances never got to happen. May we hold each other closer and love each other stronger as we remember Eddie.

Eddie was born on 2 August 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edmund and Kathleen (Scott) Richardson. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Denmark Copenhagen Mission and served for many years as a linguist in the Utah Army National Guard. In August 5, 1988, he married Jeanette Stevens in the Salt Lake Temple, and their family grew to include their children and many others they welcomed into their circle and watched over during the years that followed. Eddie was known for his big heart and his willingness to help others in need. He was known for his desire to keep trying and for holding tightly to his faith in Jesus Christ despite his own shortcomings.

He is survived by his mother and father; his children—Jacob (Kara), Marie (Richard) Morrey, Alena (Feletiliki), Rachel (Brenden), Caleb (Emily), Zachary, Berry (or Holleigh), Elizabeth, Kiera, and Isaac—Jeanette, the mother of his children; his 9 grandchildren; his brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Eddie, we love you, and we miss you. We hope your spirit is lifted and you feel a little lighter now.
