Verla married Lamont T. Epperson on October 8th, 1948. They raised three children in the Sugarhouse area. While raising three children she was a fulltime wife and mother as well as holding various part time jobs outside the house as her children grew. She worked for the Primary Children’s Hospital, Boy Scouts of America, The Granite Education Association, Utah Recovery services and as a secretary at the Utah Attorney General’s office. She enjoyed her time at the AG office and Primary Children’s Hospital particularly.

While raising her children on Hannibal St., she was also a friend and surrogate parent to many children in the neighborhood. She was a regular at the Sugarhouse Little League games in the old ball field at the east end of what is now Sugarhouse Park, where both of her boys played baseball.

Verla accompanied her family on many automobile vacation trips, including one with just her and her children driving to Denver. There were many trips to California and also Southern Utah and Arizona. Her children remember them well.

She worked in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and she enjoyed her time there.

She lived alone in her house on Hannibal St. for the last 30 years of her life. She loved her house and her yard and especially loved her flowers.

She was always very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be missed by all of us, and more.
