Listen to Obituary

Terry was a man of deep and abiding faith. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his testimony shaped the course of his life and guided the way he loved, served, and worked. He served faithfully in numerous church callings throughout his life and recently completed a two-year senior service mission with his wife, DeNece. His devotion to the gospel was steady and sincere, reflected in the quiet consistency of his daily life.

Born in Idaho, Terry later made his home in Utah and spent winters in Arizona. Wherever he lived, his priorities remained the same: family first, faith in Jesus Christ, and serving his country with honor.

Terry dedicated 30 years to civil service and served on active duty and in the Reserve for a total of 33 years in the United States Air Force, including overseas deployments. In addition to his military responsibilities, he was deeply involved in humanitarian efforts, contributing his time and skills to projects that improved lives and strengthened communities. His dedication to service continued through his work at the Utah Test and Training Range, where he supported critical missions and helped strengthen national defense. He approached his work with discipline, integrity, and quiet excellence.

He was known as a true jack of all trades — resourceful, inventive, and dependable. When something broke or a solution seemed impossible, Terry found a way. Whether in his professional life or helping family and friends in a moment of need, he showed up without hesitation. If you were within his circle, you were his responsibility, and he took that role seriously.

Family was one of his greatest blessings. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, DeNece; his seven children: Lynn (Annette), Alethea (Steve), Tanya (Rob), Michele (Joshua), Tyler (Jamie), Melynda (Samuel), and Tyson (Kelsie); 22 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his parents, Shirley and Merlyn; and his siblings, David (Lorleine) and Barbara (Rion). He was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Shirlyn.

Terry loved the outdoors and was happiest when active. He enjoyed swimming and water sports, four-wheeling, golfing with his mother-in-law in Yuma during their winters in Arizona, camping, gardening, and working on the farm. He especially cherished the long days of spud harvest and the satisfaction that came from honest work. He was an avid reader and treasured his books so deeply that he once dreamed of registering his home as a library. Often happiest when he could quietly find a corner to read, he valued learning, reflection, and the quiet strength that comes from knowledge. He had a natural mechanical instinct and could operate nearly any vehicle placed in his hands — if he had the keys, he would figure it out. Whether on land, on water, or immersed in a good book, he approached life with confidence and capability.

Though quiet in manner, his presence was steady and strong. He led by example — faithful to God, loyal to family, and committed to serving wherever he was needed.

His legacy lives on in the faith he practiced, the work he completed, and the family he loved.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always honored.
