The Man, The Myth, The Legend!
Stephen Vickers Moyer of South Jordan, Utah, was born on January 10, 1939, and passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026, with his children by his side. He was welcomed straight into the arms of his beloved wife, Shirlee, and his son, Danny, who passed before him. What a beautiful reunion that must have been, one we can only imagine.
Steve was many things to many people: a devoted husband, a loving father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and the very best friend anyone could ask for. On August 22, 1963, he married his soulmate, Shirlee, and together they built a beautiful life and family with their seven children.
Steve was loved by so many people, and anyone who knew him knew he had a heart of gold, literally! In 1996, Steve was blessed with the incredible gift of a new heart, a gift that gave his family nearly 31 more years of memories, laughter, love, and time together.
Steve enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved bowling, golfing, and cheering on his beloved BYU Cougars. In his younger years, Steve dedicated much of his time to Temple work, and his love for his Heavenly Father and his faith were an important part of who he was.
Of all the things Steve accomplished in his lifetime, nothing meant more to him than his family. His seven children were his pride and joy, and he loved each and every one of them. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him more happiness than words can ever describe. He loved nothing more than spending time with them, whether it was cheering them on at their games, teaching them how to drive the tractor, working alongside them in the garden, or simply sitting and visiting. It didn't matter what they were doing as long as they were together.
Steve also had a special talent for woodworking in his shed, including building toys, trains, cars, and airplanes. But what made it even more special was his love for giving them away. He always carried three to five little toys in his pocket wherever he went so that he could hand them out to children, whether that be at the grocery store, his doctor appointments, or his dentist appointments, bringing smiles to children and spreading happiness wherever he went. That was just Steve, always thinking of others, always finding a way to make someone's day a little brighter.
And of course, we can't talk enough about Steve's famous chili. It wasn't a recipe, it was a family tradition, one that his children and grandchildren have proudly carried on and will continue to share for generations to come. Every pot made will be a little reminder of the man we love so much.
Steve leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will forever be grateful for the love he gave. He is survived by his six children, Trent (Beckie) Moyer, Blake (Daniela) Moyer, Steve (Alicia) Moyer, Jim (Ronda) Moyer, Becky Cleverly, and Teri Moyer, along with his many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Moyer.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirlee Moyer, his son, Danny Moyer, his parents, Joseph and Karla Moyer, siblings Vernon, Randy, and Mickey Moyer, along with many other cherished family members and friends.
Steve, you are truly one of a kind. Your love, your laughter, your kindness, and the memories you created will live on in the hearts of everyone lucky enough to know you. You gave us so much to remember, so many stories to tell, and a lifetime of love that even death can never take away. We will miss you more than words can ever express, and this world simply won't be the same without you. Until we meet again, we love you!
