Shawna Lee Hamilton

Shawna Lee Hamilton passed away in West Jordan, Utah at the age of 57 on September 12, 2026.

Shawna was born March 22, 1969 in Martinez, California. She was lovingly raised by her parents, Arnold and Kathleen Hamilton, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the middle of three children, with an older sister, Kathrine, and a younger brother, Michael. Many of Shawna’s adult years were spent in California in the Santa Rosa area before returning home to Utah to be near family, especially her children Amber, Shane and Blaine.

Shawna did not care for serious matters. She loved to make people laugh. She removed herself from situations if tensions rose too high, and always had a joke she could rattle off to try to lighten the mood.

Shawna was thoughtful, a gift-giver by nature, often thinking of others and putting their comfort above her own. She would literally give the shoes off her feet. She cared for others when they were sick, and she always offered rides to people who needed them.

Shawna was known to craft gifts out of material others saw little use in, repurposing it and making something new and beautiful again.

Shawna loved chocolate! Any gift that contained chocolate was her favorite.

Shawna was a lover of all animals. Because of her gentle touch, animals seemed drawn to her too.

Anyone who knew Shawna would know that there was surely a red tail boa constrictor nearby. Her deep love for snakes began with her original emotional support snake, Fidget. After his passing she loved Dori Don, and finally Kobi. Her snake would lovingly wrap its tail around her belt loop and go with her to work, to doctors’ appointments, and even visited a courthouse once – which often resulted in Shawna being abruptly asked to leave when her aforementioned emotional support companion was discovered.

Shawna had a firm belief in redemption, in God, and loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She found comfort in images of angels and placed them around her home and car.

Shawna is survived by her immediate family, Arnold, Kathleen, Kathrine, Michael (Amy), Amber, Shane (Lia), Blaine, Azh, and River, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is loved and missed by so many more. She was welcomed to the other side by her grandparents, Verl and Phyllis Averett, and Marvin and Ruby Hamilton, her snakes Fidget and Dori Don, as well as many aunts, uncles, close friends and pets.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at the arbor behind the church meetinghouse at 8385 So. 4800 W. West Jordan, Utah 84081 on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather at that time to share their favorite memories and, of course, chocolate!
