Sharon Moore

Sharon Kay Chilson Moore, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 28, 2022. She was born September 26, 1937, to William Elwood Chilson and Juanita Morgan Chilson in Ogden, Utah. She lived her early years in West Ogden, Utah then moved with her parents to Sunset, Utah, where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a proud graduate of the Davis High School Class of 1955. Mom worked at Hill Air Force Base prior to meeting her future husband, Leslie (Les) Hal Moore. Upon arriving home from their first date, Mom told her parents she was going to marry him. She married Les in Elko, Nevada on June 28, 1957.

In March 2022, mom lost her husband of 64 years. We can only imagine how happy mom and dad are to be together again. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, then Elim Lutheran Church. Mom loved to sing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She was a strong Christian woman in her Lutheran faith. An avid reader, Mom shared her passion with her children. Every summer she would take us to the bookmobile where we selected books to read and give her a report on. She challenged us to leave Utah which all of us children did. Two returned to Utah. Those experiences were the best life lessons for each of us. Mom had a great love for the Indigenous people and their history. She shared a passion for Antelope Island with dad as a volunteer at the Fielding Garr Ranch for over 20 years. In recent years she enjoyed her Thursday night dinners with the girls.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Les, her mother, father, and sister. She is survived by her brother, Bill Chilson (Julie), and her three children Wendy (Lamont) Nelson, Lisa Wood, and Leslie Hal (Melanie) Moore Jr. She was blessed with two granddaughters, Kaylee Wood, and Shelby (Gabriela) Moore.

A Celebration of Life for Sharon will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Roy, Utah. The service will be streamed through OSLRoy YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEwnG1TtQzkruIS3FWGmnyA

The family wishes to thank the staff at Fairfield Village Assisted Living and Rehab, and the team from Applegate Hospice, especially Debbie and Heather, for their kind and loving care. A special acknowledgement to Dr. Nadya Wayment., Dr. Ryan Hoggan, and Dr. Jared Peterson for taking care of mom during the past few years.
