Roy James Slowman, 62. A beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew & “Great Buddy”. Joined the angels on January 23, 2026, in Murray, UT.
Born on July 28, 1963 in Shiprock, NM. Raised in hometown Teec Nos Pos, AZ.
He was a proud Diné from the Navajo Nation, who carried his clans with pride; Tódik'ǫzhi nį́į́ligo, Bit'ahnii yashiin, Tó’ahaní bícheii, Tł’ízíłání bínalí.
Roy was the 8th child of 10 siblings.

Roy furthered his education at Salt Lake Community Technical College. Then pursued his career as a “Jack of all trades” kind of man.
While residing in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a “West Side” (Glendale) resident, he enjoyed attending local community events, was a big reader of The Salt Lake Tribune newspaper & City Weekly. Some could even say, “I see your dad enjoying downtown Salt Lake & riding the UTA.”
Father of three, Grandfather of four. He was festive with celebrations and always excited for family functions. He enjoyed watching Friday night Smackdown, the local news and sports.
A strong man full of integrity and faith. He was always willing to give a helping hand and make the most of every situation.
He will be truly missed.
He is survived by spouse, Roselyn Nakai of Aneth, UT; his oldest daughter, Rhonda V. Slowman-Day (Wilmer Day) of North Salt Lake, Utah; Son Pius J. Slowman of Salt Lake City, Utah; youngest daughter Christiane Slowman of Salt Lake City, Utah; 4 grandchildren, Rhea R. Day, Pius J. Slowman Jr., Annaleya J. Slowman & Eternity Slowman.
Roy J. Slowman is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Slowman Sr. & Etta Chischilly Slowman; siblings Frank Slowman, Robert Slowman Dinay, Maggie S. Brown, and Lolita Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 30, 2026. Viewing at 9:30 am and service to follow at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah 84010. Interment follows at 12:00 pm at the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S., SLC, UT 84117. Reception at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah 84010.
