Rodney V Taylor

July 28, 1956 — July 17, 2025

West Jordan

Rodney V. Taylor returned home to his Heavenly Father, surrounded by family and loved ones on Thursday, July 17, 2025, after complications from a stroke.

Rodney was born on July 28, 1956, to Vivian Peterson and Dewey Voy Taylor. He was the second oldest of seven children and the big brother. Rodney grew up in the Millcreek area. He graduated from Granite High School and then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Padova, Italy.

Rodney met the love of his life, Tracy Crane, on a blind date. They later married on August 17, 1978, in the Salt Lake Temple. They went on to have 3 children, a boy followed by two girls.

Rodney spent most of his church callings in the scouting program and with the youth.

Rodney was a hard worker and a wonderful provider. He worked in framing and carpentry with his dad growing up and did some electrical work and plumbing. After his mission he went to trade school and became a sheet metal mechanic. He worked in the industry for 45 years, 20 of those with his son by his side. He loved his last employer, DB Mechanical, and was teased that he was their walking billboard because he was always wearing their shirts.

He was always doing projects. If he wasn’t working on something at home, then he was at one of his kids' houses fixing or building something.

Rodney was very active. He ran in many races, mostly 5Ks and 10Ks. He played and coached soccer with his kids. He played basketball, softball, and wrestled. He loved going to the gym everyday and had many friends there.

One of Rodney’s favorite places to be was on the family mountain in Sevier County, Utah. He loved the outdoors, especially taking his four-wheeler up and down every trail that he could find, the muddier the better. Much to the dismay of his son-in-law, who had to fix his four wheeler every time he broke something on his wild adventures. He loved taking his family riding, shooting, hunting, and fishing.

Rodney is survived by his wife; Tracy Crane; son, Jeremy (Abby) Taylor, daughters; Tiffany (Travis) Osborne, Alina (Adam) Talbot; grandchildren; Tonya Taylor (Colin), Jackson Taylor, Hudson Osborne, Stetson Osborne, Axton Osborne, Jace Talbot, Mikelle Talbot. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

There will be a celebration of life for Rodney from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on July 26, 2025, at the West Jordan Westland Stake Center 7265 S. 2700 W., West Jordan, Utah 84084. Internment will follow immediately after at the West Jordan City Cemetery.
