Raquel Sánchez, full maiden name Raquel Rosalba Betty Víquez Romero and sometimes known as “Rachel”, “Rossy” (Rosie), or “Bety”, was born September 26th, 1951, to parents living in Melchor Ocampo, State of Mexico, Mexico. She earned a degree in preschool education from Colegio Hispano Americano, writing a thesis on the local history and culture of Cuautitlán, State of Mexico. She then taught at Jardín de Niños Jorge Jiménez Cantú in Cuautitlán.

Raquel came to settle with all her family in Lansing, Michigan, where she earned an additional certificate in floral design and then worked for many years as a florist at Jon Anthony, B&A, and Smith Floral. During the last few years of her life, she worked for the preschool program of The People’s Church in East Lansing. 

Raquel passed away August 31st, 2026 in Riverton, Utah, while visiting family. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Reina Ruth Víquez Romero; her mother, María Antonia Romero Morales; and her father, Delfino Mardonio Víquez Ríos. She is survived by another sister, Candelaria Herlinda Víquez Romero; two children, Marco Polo Ivan Sánchez Víquez and Quetzalli Itzel Sánchez-Lambert (née Sánchez Víquez); and eight grandchildren.

Funeral to be held on September 10th, 2026, at the Lansing stake center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 431 East Saginaw Street, East Lansing, Michigan. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Michigan.
