Randy Salazar

Randall Ellis Salazar- March 15, 1953-December 5, 2021. Randy Salazar passed away peacefully while talking to his bride on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at their home in West Valley City, Utah. Randy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elias (Eddie) and Jacqueline (Jackie) Salazar. He graduated from Granger High School in 1971. He married Sue Norby in 1973. Survived by his bride, Sue. Also survived by his children: Ashley (Leon) Yorgesen of Mattawa, WA; Joshua (Annie) Salazar of Keller, Texas; Levi (Lacy) Salazar of St. George, Utah; Lacee (Rob) Houston of San Antonio, Texas; and Sky Salazar of Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

Randy worked for Weyher-Livesay Construction for 21 years as a welder/pipefitter and eventually became a general superintendent. That career took him and his family to many homes and states around the country. Randy and Sue enjoyed all the friends they met and adventures they had in Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Maine and several places in Utah. He worked for Cianbro Construction in the state of Maine for a number of years. He also opened a Mexican food takeout place and served people in the mid-coast Maine area for 6 years. Randy and Sue worked together as nighttime school custodians as well.

In his younger years, Randy loved hunting, waterskiing, and making all holidays special for his children. In more recent years, Randy loved his medical marijuana card and his dog, Cassie. He always loved cooking, colorful jokes, tools, knives, gadgets, guns, and spending time with his friends in all the places he lived and worked. He always had a knife or leatherman, or several of them, on his belt and in his pockets.

Randy was a beloved Grandpa to 16 grandchildren- Matthew (Roxana), Luke, Andrew, and Macey Yorgesen; Aleah, Blake, Connor, Gemma and Talya Salazar; Easton, Stark, and Stratton Salazar; Lincoln, Brigham, Lucy, and Mary Houston.

Randy is also survived by his sisters Dianna Velarde and Cheryn Ross and his brother Sheldon Salazar and several brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Gary Salazar, Roger Salazar and Stan Salazar, and two grandsons Camden Salazar and Samuel Houston.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed serving in many different callings and had a testimony that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In the immortal words of Randy, “Keep Smilin’ :-)))))))!”
