Nicholas Byron Tingey, 47, was taken from his family far too soon on May 19, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Nick was born on April 5, 1979, to Frank and Betty (Morgan) Tingey in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent his childhood in Woods Cross, where much of his time was spent caring for horses and animals of all kinds at his father’s barn and developing a lifelong love for the outdoors, which he would later instill in his own children. He had a forever reliable confidante in his brother, Casey, and when his sister, Jessie, joined the family, it awakened in him a tender protectiveness and deep love that would continue to shine through in the special bonds he shared with every little girl in his life. He graduated from Woods Cross High School and went on to work in the construction and trucking industries, where his strong work ethic and dedication allowed him to excel.
Nick became a father with the birth of his first son, Carson. He later met the love of his life, Casandra Nichols, and lovingly welcomed her son, Kaden, into his heart and family, later adopting him as his own. Together, Nick and Cassy welcomed their son, Zachary Morgan. They married on January 24, 2009, and later completed their family with the arrival of their daughter, Kennedy Paige. They renewed their vows on August 7, 2021, with Elvis officiating in Vegas, fulfilling a forever dream they shared together. Nick had a profound and fiercely protective love for Cassy, and his children were his greatest accomplishments.
Nick was happiest surrounded by the people he loved, whether he was sharing stories, making people laugh, or creating lasting memories. He had a deep passion for shooting guns, riding motorcycles, and all things outdoors. Nick was an avid hunter who felt most at peace in the mountains and wilderness, where he took great pleasure in sharing those experiences with his children and teaching them along the way.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Cassy; his sons, Kaden (Beverly), Carson, and Zachary; his daughter, Kennedy; his parents, Frank Tingey and Betty (Tony) Lentini; his brother, Casey (Carli); his sister, Jessie (Judd); his chosen brothers, Chad (Tiff); and his nieces and nephews, Brea, Bella, Peyton, Bronson, Riley, Gigi, and Mason, whom he absolutely adored.
Nick’s charisma, stubbornness, sense of humor, and love for his family and friends will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Lakeview and St. Mark’s Hospital for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they showed to Nick and to all who loved him during his final days. Their sincerity, support, and humanity brought comfort to the family during a time of unimaginable heartbreak.
