1963 Nathan 2025

Nathan Waldrep

March 31, 1963 — May 24, 2025

West Jordan

On May 24, 2025, Nathan Waldrep hung up his well-worn hiking boots and set off to explore the Celestial Mountains alongside our Heavenly Father.

Born on March 31, 1963, Nathan was a true adventurer and a devoted lover of the outdoors. After a day of work, one of his favorite ways to unwind was with a walk-through Millcreek Canyon. He found peace and joy in nature’s embrace, spending countless hours hiking, camping, and marveling at the beauty and vastness of the Utah desert. Canyonlands, Arches National Park, Goblin Valley State Park, and Capitol Reef held a special place in his heart.

Nathan’s spirit of exploration was contagious. He inspired friends and family to embrace the beauty and challenges of the wild. Whether trekking a dusty red trail, paddling down a river, or gazing at a quiet star-filled sky, Nathan was always up for a new adventure. Springtime in the desert was especially dear to him. It was when he recharged his soul amid the bloom of life.

He also loved his travels to Brazil. One of his most cherished experiences was participating in a samba school Carnaval rehearsal.

Nathan’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who shared in his adventures. He often spoke of fond memories, like his mother taking him out for fresh carrot juice when they lived in Pleasant Grove, Utah. His early work at Six Flags Magic Mountain, and the onion fields of California were also formative chapters in a rich and varied life. Nathan loved art in all forms, photography, painting, gardening and music. One of his favorite evenings out was a gallery stroll.

Nathan leaves behind his beloved wife, Josie, along with many friends and family who will miss him dearly. His adventurous spirit, warm heart, and love for life touched everyone who knew him

Josie wishes to express her deepest gratitude to the dedicated team at Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Huntsman at Home Hospice team. Especially Tami, Britney, Yvonne, Julie, and all the kind nurses who gave him such tender care along with Dr. Nevala and his team. She also extends heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who gave up time away from their own families to care for Nathan and support in our time of need. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
