Maria Teresa Viramontes Roman loved by all as “Teresa” From
Maria Teresa Viramontes, 65, passed away on January 7th 2024 in Murray Utah. She was born in 1958 in Jalpa,
Zacatecas, Mexico to Jose Roman and Maria de Jesus Sandoval. She is survived by the love of her life, her
husband, Esaul Viramontes (72), her children Esaul (41) and Jessie Viramontes, Diego (39) and Esthela
Viramontes, Rocio (38) and Luis Lopez; and 8 grandchildren: Julian (16), Rome (11), Diego Jr (18), Paris (16),
Kloey (4), Adrian (16), Edith (13), and Luis Jr (11). She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ramon and
Jesus, and survived by her 3 siblings, Ines, Salvador, Martin and Alfredo
Teresa loved dancing, singing and celebrating every aspect of life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother,
sibling, wife and exceptional nanny. She was an active member of her church group and a spiritual leader. Her
generosity and thoughtfulness knew no boundaries. Teresa’s smile and words of advice could make anyone’s
day better. She found solace and peace in nature and the ocean and enjoyed the simple things in life like
spending time with her family, camping, traveling, cooking, eating out and tending to her garden. She had the
biggest and strongest of hearts and was always helping everyone. Teresa’s compassion and grace was evident
in every day with her dedication to her extended family including friends, her community and helping those
less fortunate. Our beautiful mother was quite the fashion monger and always dressed accordingly, ready with
her jewelry, hair and make-up she always looked ready for a photoshoot.
Teresa went to school in Mexico. She and Esaul met in Jalpa, Zacatecas in 1977 and married 4 years later. They
moved to California in 1981. Teresa and her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1993 where they raised
their children and created a large loving community that she adored. She loved working and spent the last
several years helping raise her grandchildren, volunteering at church and as a full time Nanny to Silas (11). She
had an infectious laugh and a smile that lit up a room. She will be remembered for so many things but most of
all for spreading joy. She often arrived bearing unexpected gifts like flowers or thoughtful trinkets. She was
quick to remind us to appreciate life, recognize our blessings and practice gratitude for all we have. We will
always imagine our beloved mom crossing her fingers and hearing her say, “Thank God ”and “God Willing “,
“I will be ...dancing.” We couldn’t have asked for a better mother, grandmother, sister, wife, mentor or friend
and we will miss her every day for the rest of our lives. Teresa’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those
who love her and she will forever be our guardian angel.
