Judy Howes

May 8, 1938 — April 20, 2022

Judy Lynn Howes loved her home, a perfectly organized drawer, classic movies, holiday decorating in every room, and each family member...and they knew it.

She was the first child born to Clio Henderson and Emma Joyce Hall in Hyrum, Utah. She entered this world early weighing 2 lbs. 2 oz. With her survival in doubt, she was placed in a shoebox and incubated in an oven to stay warm. She graduated from South Cache high school and then finished beauty school.

At church in Salt Lake City she met Raymond Howes who adored her and swept her off her feet with his pompadour and poetry. They were soon married in the Salt Lake Temple and enjoyed 51 years together until Raymond's passing in 2010.

Judy raised her children in a faith-filled, peaceful home where they loved baking cookies on stormy days, late night kitchen counter chats, marathon shopping excursions, and lots of hugs and "I love you's." She quietly passed away after an extended illness on April 20, 2022.

She served as she lived, quietly and without drama as Primary, Young Women, Relief Society and PTA President. Together with dad, she fulfilled three service missions and worked in the temple. Her favorite calling; however, was ward librarian.

She is survived and dearly missed by her children: Randall (Marcy) Howes, Jerie (David) Holley, Danette (Richard) Holley, Collette (Clay) Leavitt, 19 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, as well as many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond Howes, her beloved aunt and uncle Lydia and Walter Stauffer, and her parents Clio and Emma Joyce and siblings Lanny and Toni.
