"The heart that gives, gathers."

January 10, 1953 – February 12, 2026

Joi Alice Clydesdale passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 73. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, to Thomas Henry Clydesdale and Alice Rousey Rose, Joi was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey, alongside her three brothers, Bobby, Jimmy, and Tommy. The family later relocated to Cape May, New Jersey.

A Life of Learning and Service

A lifelong student of health and wellness, Joi’s education took her across the globe. She studied as an exchange student in Argentina and later returned there to study medicine. She also attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Joi was a natural healer who delighted in sharing her knowledge and remedies to help friends and loved ones improve their well-being.

Culinary Excellence

Joi was a professionally trained chef and the co-owner of Candlelight and Caviar, a premier gourmet catering business in South Jersey. Alongside her business partner and dear friend, Walter Fellenbaum, she catered for a prestigious clientele, including Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, and Oprah Winfrey.

Beyond the limelight, Joi was deeply committed to service. She and Walter frequently donated their talents to the Cherry Hill mission, serving meals at missionary Zone Conferences and for visiting General Authorities. They also operated a restaurant in Avalon and a charming bed-and-breakfast in Cape May. Following Walter’s passing, Joi moved to Providence, Utah, where she resided for the past 16 years.

Artistry and Heart

Joi was a woman of remarkably diverse talents. She was a gifted artist who captured the beauty of the South Jersey shore on canvas. Her signature calligraphic penmanship—a skill she perfected in grade school despite her teachers' frustrations—was a testament to her eye for detail and beauty.

Though she never had children of her own, Joi possessed a maternal spirit. She found great joy serving in the church nursery and hosting "Joi School" in her home, where she taught local children cooking and crafts. She was also a devoted animal lover, preceded in death by her cherished dogs, Tippy, Eli, Henry, Sammy, and Cooper, and her cats, Puppy and Willow.

A Life of Flavor and Grace

Joi was a woman of many titles: Master Chef, Artist, Healer, and Teacher. From the shores of New Jersey to the mountains of Utah, she filled every room with the aroma of gourmet cooking and the beauty of her hand-painted landscapes.

Whether she was catering for world-renowned guests or teaching "Joi School" to the children in her neighborhood, her hands were always busy serving others. We remember her today for her sharp wit, her incredible penmanship, and her boundless love for every child and animal that crossed her path.

Survivors and Services

Joi was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bobby and Jimmy, and her business partner, Walter Fellenbaum. She is survived by her brother, Tommy; her cousin, Diann Rose; her niece, Tara Pettit (Michael), and their sons, Elliott and Adrian; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
