Jean Clay Grover Turley

Jean Clay Grover Turley passed away from natural causes on September 7, 2026, at the age of 86.

Jean was born on March 3, 1940, in Hutchinson, Kansas, just minutes before her twin brother, Dean—a distinction that made her the seventh of ten children born to George Phillips Clay and Dorothy Anna Cliff Clay. She grew up surrounded by brothers and sisters and graduated from East High School in Wichita, Kansas, in 1958.

Jean attended Brigham Young University, where she met Scott Carl Grover at a dance. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 28, 1959, and soon moved to Logan, where Scott completed his education at Utah State University. His career took their growing family to Utah, Alabama, Illinois, and Washington. Together, Jean and Scott raised six children.

Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Scott Grover, her second husband, Reese Turley. Her parents, George and Dorothy Clay; her siblings George, Orson, Gayle, Lois, John, and Dean; her husbands, Scott Grover and Reese Turley; her son-in-law, Tom Titensor; and her granddaughter, Sydney.

She is survived by her six children: Tami (Dave) Gunnell, Teri (Kirby) Forbush, Toni (Matt) Kroll, David (Heather) Grover, Christine (Jim) Hoover, and Kenneth (Holly) Grover. She is also survived by her siblings LouRae Kramer, Bob Clay, and Neil Clay; twenty-two grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at the Orchard Stake Center at 3599 S Orchard Drive, Bountiful Utah on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 2 to 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your charity of choice.
