Gwen C. Daw passed away on February 13, 2026, at home in West Jordan, Utah. She was born June 15, 1937 in Paris, Idaho, to Joseph and Irma Collings. She married Owen B. Daw on June 3, 1960 in the Logan, Utah temple.
Gwen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in various callings, mostly in music. She was highly skilled playing the organ and piano, and had a gift of accompanying others and bringing out the emotion of the music. She served a mission with her husband at the Washington DC temple from 1999 to 2000. She also served as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother meant the world to her. No one was more devoted in remembering the birthdays of all 55 family members. Labor Day weekend trips were a special family tradition provided by Gwen and Owen for 45 years. Many fond memories were created.
Gwen graduated from Ricks College and Utah State University. She became an elementary school teacher and taught school in Shelly, Idaho and Wellsville, Utah. She then spent the majority of her teaching career at Pioneer Elementary in West Valley, Utah. She enjoyed reading and loved to crochet, especially baby blankets and afghans. She truly understood and lived the principle of charity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Janet Daines (sister), David Collings (brother) and Garth Jones (son in law). She is survived by her husband, daughters-Wendy Smith (Peyton), Janet Greenhalgh (Wesley), Patty Jones, and Son, Stephen Daw (Coralyn), 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
