Gerald Solomon Hale was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 12,1941 to Bruce McKay Hale Sr. and Marion Solomon Hale. He passed away in his home in West Valley on June 2, 2025. He was a beloved husband, devoted son, very loving to his three brothers and sister and many nephews and nieces.
Gerry had a fun childhood and later gained an interest in magic tricks. He also enjoyed talking with others all around the world on his Ham Radio, call sign “K7CLR”. He was a cheerleader at East High School and graduated in 1959, served 2 years in the military, and went on to earn a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Utah, a field in which he would dedicate his professional life with great passion and precision.
Gerald served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern States. He had the privilege of traveling throughout his mission with a musical group of other missionaries called “The Mormon Ten Melody Men”. Those 2 years shaped his life of service, humility and compassion.
Gerry met Michael Hall in 1967 and in 1969 they moved to Arizona where he was hired by Goodyear Aerospace and later with Motorola. In 1975 they moved back to Salt Lake City. His longtime friend hired him to work at Warren TV Repair Shop where he eventually retired. Gerry and Michael shared 57 years together and when laws changed, they were married on November 13, 2014. Their relationship was a source of strength, love and unwavering support, a testament of enduring commitment and mutual respect.
Gerald’s memory will be cherished for his warmth, intelligence, quiet humor, and the deep integrity with which he approached all aspects of life. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the work he did, and the love he shared.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Bruce Hale (wife Gayle); Randall Hale; and sister Karen Anderson. He is survived by his beloved spouse Michael Hall; his younger brother Ronald Hale (wife Marian).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, on the grounds at the Garden Park Ward, 1150 Yale Avenue, Salt Lake City, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. His ashes will then be laid to rest in the family plot at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North N Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.
