Short lived a life marked by loyalty, true to his name, and a faithful commitment to his values. He was the beloved owner of Grant Trucking, where he was known for his dedication, personally hauling soil throughout the valley. His work was not just a job but a testament to his hard work and commitment. Apart from his professional life, Short enjoyed spending time with friends at the billiards. You could find him at the pool table or on the bowling lanes, where he played in various leagues. He was nicknamed "Lightning" because he never struck in the same place twice. He was also a fan of the classic TV show "Gunsmoke" as well as other westerns.

Short was a family man, deeply admired and loved by his children Lisa (Derrick), Kyle (Judy), Gaylynne (Wendell), Carol, Lee (Cindy), Troy, Donna (Steve), Lezlee, Loni, and Lori (Joe), and his sister Teddie. He was a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to many. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Orpha "Sheree" Grant, his children Linda, Ross, and Randy, his parents “Ted” George Edward Grant and Vera Elizabeth Moesser, his sister Beth, and his brothers Ned, John, Earl, Doyle, and Avan.

Short will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and the profound impact he had on those around him. His legacy of integrity and love continues to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
