Evelyn Tenney Rentmeister

February 28, 1939 — September 10, 2025

Salt Lake City

Evelyn Tenney Iba Adams Rentmeister—a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

She was born on February 28, 1939, in San Diego, California, to Kenneth Westover Tenney and Vivian Allred Tenney. Evelyn was the eldest of three children.

In 1957, she married Richard Iba, and together they were blessed with four children: David, Patty, Scott, and Robert. They were later divorced. Evelyn—known lovingly as Lynn—spent seven years raising her four children as a single mother. She devoted her life to serving them, and they adored her as deeply as she adored them.

In 1970, Lynn married Jerold Earl Adams in Walnut Creek, California, blending their families as Jerry brought four children of his own into the marriage. Their union was later solemnized in the Oakland California LDS Temple. In 1971, they moved to Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and later welcomed their daughter, Jennifer Lynn Adams, completing their family.

Together, Jerry and Lynn owned and operated a heating and air conditioning business for many years. They later spent time living in Richland, Washington, before finally settling in Jerome, Idaho, where they continued to build their business.

Lynn was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in a variety of callings. She taught her children the gospel of Jesus Christ and exemplified her devotion by serving two senior missions: one in the Oklahoma Ardmore Mission and another in the Texas Austin Mission.

Family was Lynn’s greatest joy. She loved taking her children camping and swimming, cheering them on in their activities, and being their most enthusiastic supporter. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, always taking care to present herself with grace and dignity.

In 2015, Jerry passed away. On November 9, 2018, Lynn married Grant Rentmeister. Together, they enjoyed traveling, attending the temple, and visiting family. Grant showed unwavering devotion, love, and care for Lynn throughout her final days.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Grant Rentmeister, and his family; her sister, Gayle Tenney; and her brother, Steven Tenney (Kittie). She is also survived by her children: David (Tammi), Patty Seibold (Bruce), Scott (Pam), Robert (Jann), and Jennifer Bond (Dave).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Britain, and her great-grandsons Oliver Nye and Emmitt Seamons. She will be deeply missed by her 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to her daughter Patty for the loving care she provided during Lynn’s final weeks.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22nd, at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1409 W 9800 S, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Jerome, Idaho Cemetery with a graveside service at 11:30am on September 27th.
