Edith Mae Lovell, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt returned to her Father in Heaven peacefully on August 6, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

Edith was born to Myron Vest and Catherine Wilson Vest on July 17, 1927 in Lyndyll, UT. She was the youngest of five children. She married the love of her life, William Lovell, on May 21, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Their marriage was solemnized for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on July6, 1963.  They were happily married for 66 years.

William and Edith had four children, Karla (Fred Lowry), William David (Phyllis), Vesta (Stacy Jacobs) and Lorna (Ty Goodspeed). Edith work various jobs including a cook for the Tooele County School District at Tooele High, a hotel maid in Portland, Oregon, and loved planting flowers for a nursery on Redwood Road. Her church callings include: Sunday School Teacher, Mutual Advisor, Librarian and a Temple Worker.

As a young woman Edith was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She would ride the train from Lynndyl, Utah to Salt Lake City to take voice lessons from Alexander Schreiner.  She loved to sing and shared her talent whenever she was asked.

She loved the outdoors, especially camping with her husband, children and grandchildren. Edith was always happy and willing to participate in activities with her grandchildren. You could find her floating a river, hiking a mountain, playing marbles, Jacks, Hopscotch and riding the slides at Water Parks. She also made the time to buy art supplies and teach her grandchildren how to paint a picture while camping. No matter what the outcome of the pictures she praised one and all for the effort that was made. She had a passion for artistic painting and became a very good artist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lovell; her parents: Myron and Catherine Gaye Wilson Vest, brothers: Myron Cornell and Samuel Eugene Vest; sisters: Althea Blanche Vest Gronning and Katie Myla Vest Roundy, and son-in-laws Stacy and Ty.  She is survived by her children, 16 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces and their families.

At her request, no viewing will be held. A brief funeral and interment will take place in the Mona, Utah, cemetery at 11:00 A.M on August 10, 2016.

Special thanks to the staff and aides at Cottage Glen Assisted Living in Tooele, Utah, and also Ellen, Joey and Cherylynn from Canyon Hospice for their care, love and support.

Services are being arranged and conducted by Independent Funeral Service, Salt Lake City.
