1947 Duey 2025

Duane Lindsay Jansson

July 16, 1947 — September 7, 2025

Duane Lindsay Jansson (aka “Duey”), 78, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, joining the Army of Angels in Heaven. Born on July 16, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the fourth of nine children born to Parley and Marian Jansson.

Duey lived a full and vibrant life. In his younger years, he was passionate about softball, golf, boxing, motorcycles, and all things muscle cars. He cherished adventures with his brothers and friends, whether it was going rabbit or duck hunting, fishing, shooting, or a quick trip to Wendover, these moments became treasured memories.

A proud graduate of Granger High School, Class of 1965, Duey went on to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he learned to speak fluent Spanish, a skill he carried proudly for the rest of his life.

After returning from his mission, Duey pursued a degree in Accounting at Weber State University before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971. He served for six years, including time stationed in Germany as a Clerk Typist. His service earned him both the National Defense Service Medal and the Expert M16 Medal honors he held with pride.

While serving his mission, Duey met the love of his life, Diana Borelo. Together they raised five children Bryan, Lisa, Paul, Natasha, and Jinelle. Despite the demands of work, Duey prioritized family time. From yearly camping trips to Crystal Springs to RV adventures at Disneyland, and countless days at Lagoon, he created a childhood full of laughter, love, and lasting memories.

Professionally, Duey built a long and successful career as a semi-truck driver, spending over 30 years behind the wheel, most notably with Consolidated Freightways. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and retired with honor.

Duey found his favorite role as “Papa Duey” to his six amazing grandchildren who were his absolute pride and joy. This was the prime of his life where he thoroughly enjoyed every moment with them at their various sports activities like Baseball, Football, Volleyball, Cheer, Dance and everything in between.

Later in life, Duey married Christine and wholeheartedly embraced her children, Ted and Heidi, like his own. They became a meaningful part of his life and remained close to his heart. Our families have continued that bond and remain dear friends to this day.

In his final years, Duey enjoyed living with his eldest daughter, where he remained close to his grandchildren. Root beer floats, pop-in lunches, NFL games, card games, and cherished one-on-one time became the highlights of his days and brought joy to everyone around him.

Known for his big heart and even bigger personality, Duey never met a stranger. He had a unique way of making everyone feel seen, appreciated, and loved whether it was a server, a nurse, or someone he crossed paths with for just a moment. Always quick with a joke or compliment, he made people smile and often joked that “He would get their wages doubled." His generosity, humor, and kindness will live on through those he touched.

Duey is survived by his children: Bryan Jansson, Lisa (Gary) Felice, Paul (Marci) Jansson, Natasha (Randall) Knaus, and Jinelle (Jeff) Barrow; Grandchildren: Kyler (Madeline) Jansson, Jauntay Felice, Braxten Felice, Allycia Felice, Jayden Barrow, Jaxen Barrow, and Jerzey Barrow; Siblings: Barbara Thomas, Lynn Jansson, Annette Hottinger, Evan Jansson, Cheryl Harkness, Sharlene Thomas, and Marva (Randy) Hill.

As well as many cherished Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents (Parley & Marian Jansson), sister Jeanne Keller, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law (Bob Thomas, Janene Jansson, Keith Hottinger, Sal Jansson, Dennis Harkness, Byron Thomas), niece Jill Frost, and many lifelong friends.

The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the Veterans Affairs Hospital and staff, Caregiver’s Support Network, Beehive Homes of Herriman, and Canyon Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
