David Romero, 75, passed away on October 26th, after a valiant battle with lung disease. He faced his illness with incredible courage and dignity. He was surrounded by his loving family and his sweet dogs, Sassy and Holly.
Dave was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on June 10th, 1951 to Alfonso and Frances (Lucero) Romero. He grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School. Dave enlisted in the military and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Airforce. While serving overseas, he married Miriam (Brasse) and became a father to three children, a daughter and twin sons. He returned to Utah and started a career in sales. He was employed at Jerry Seiner GMC for 20+ years. Upon his retirement he became a crossing guard, keeping kids safe on their way to school.
In his later years, Dave was blessed to create another family with Marsha (Shireman), who he affectionately referred to as his “Sweetie”. They were together for 15 years and had finally tied the knot this year in a small outdoor wedding surrounded by family. He and Marsha took such great care of each other until the very end, with so much love and compassion for one other.
Dave loved adventures and traveling. He and Marsha enjoyed road trips and traveling overseas to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, golfing, playing darts and pool, poker, also card and board games. He enjoyed spending time with family and loved cooking for people. He always had a Donald Duck impression ready to make children smile…(even us adults who grew up!) He had a great sense of humor and an amazing smile that we are all going to miss dearly.
He is survived by his wife Marsha, his daughter Chantal Romero, his sons Patrick (Helen) Romero, Sacha (Linda) Romero, and his grandchildren, Tyren, Sydney, Luna-Mae, Jairo, Bobbie-Jane and Senna. His sisters Dora (Tom) LaVoie, Helen (Joe) Rocha, his brother Phillip Romero (Treenie) and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family with Marsha, Matt McCullough (Dawn), Avette (Sean) Brooks, Sean McCullough, Mark (Andrea) McCullough and grandchildren Tessa, Dakota and Kaison. Dave will forever be in our hearts. His big personality and presence will truly be missed.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Valeo home health care workers, and the amazing staff, doctors and nurses of the V.A. Hospital, for the incredible care of Dave, bringing him comfort in his final moments.
