Cheri Jo (Miller) Burdick, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in San Diego, California, Cheri eventually made her home in Sandy, Utah, where she raised her family and enriched the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength. Though she spent much of her life in Utah, her heart was never far from the ocean. Cheri found deep peace in the rhythm of the waves and often spoke of how the beach soothed her soul.
A free spirit and a hippie at heart, Cheri embraced life with open arms. She lived by the principles of love, compassion, and acceptance. She loved to dance and found joy in letting the rhythm carry her, whether surrounded by family or simply dancing in the kitchen. Her joy was infectious, and she had a gift for making others feel seen, loved, and at home.
Cheri loved and cared for her family unconditionally. She was most proud of being a mother, and her nurturing spirit anchored her children and grandchildren through every chapter of life. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her beliefs grounded her in hope, kindness, and enduring faith.
She is survived by her children: Angie Burdick (partner Rebecca Pierce), Emily Riser, and Michael Burdick (partner Ryan Cain); and her cherished grandchildren, Maxwell Riser and Lexi JoRiser. She is also survived by her brothers, Henry Miller III (husband Rick Fernandez) and Stephen Miller (wife Melissa Miller); her sisters, Cindy Aledo and Lora Loder (husband David Loder); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Cheri was preceded in death by her husband, Max Burdick; daughter, Natalie Burdick; parents, Irene Iris (Sawyers) Miller and Henry Norman Miller Jr.; and brothers, Dale and James Miller.
Funeral services for Cheri Burdick will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2675 Mt Jordan Rd, Sandy, UT 84092. A viewing will take place between 9:30-10:45 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT 84106. In addition to interring Cheri, the graveside service will include a dedication and final resting place for her husband, Max Burdick, and their daughter, Natalie Burdick.
