Cayleen Coburn

February 12, 1981 — June 13, 2023

Our beloved Cayleen passed peacefully away surrounded by family on the afternoon of June 13, 2023, at age 42 due to respiratory failure.

She was born on February 12, 1981, in Mission Viejo, California, the daughter of Julie Stromberg and Calin Coburn. She grew up in North Salt Lake and graduated from Woods Cross High School in 1999. She later earned an Associate Degree from LDS Business College and attended Utah State University. She loved caring for others and found great purpose working as a CNA, making strong connections with the people in her care.

Cayleen had many hobbies and interests. She loved movies and pop culture, and she was always a wealth of knowledge about the latest scoop. She was a member of her high school bell choir and sang with various choirs. She enjoyed collecting Madame Alexander dolls as well as Christmas and Harry Potter village pieces. She loved dogs, especially her dog Izzy, who brought a lot of joyful times (as well as some not so joyful). She was an avid sports fan; you could count on Cayleen to cheer the loudest and give you a recap of the game if you missed it. She created a wonderful life in Logan with her dear friends and coworkers, and she always attended family events and made holidays special. She was an admired friend and example to her younger siblings and cousins, and more recently to her dear nieces and nephews who she always loved to spoil.

Despite the many health concerns that arose from her type 1 diabetes, Cayleen was an example of courageous perseverance throughout her life. She is loved and will be missed.

Cayleen is survived by her mother, Julie Oder; her siblings, David (McKenzie) Oder, Maddie (Tyler) Higginson, and Tori (Alex) Bakalas; and her nieces and nephews, Lucy and Ivy Oder, Milo Higginson, and Sophie and Isaac Bakalas. She is also survived by her loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including her lifelong best friend, Holly Mead Hyde. She was preceded in death by her father.

Her family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals who cared for Cayleen over the course of her life.

Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery. An intimate gravesite memorial will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

While flowers are welcome, other contributions can be given to the Humane Society of Utah in Cayleen’s honor.
