Carol June Hoover Giles passed away peacefully in her home on June 13, 2025, surrounded by her family. Carol was born on June 6, 1929, to Ferris Webster and Lillian Taylor Hoover in Provo, Utah, and was the third of four children. Carol and her siblings grew up on the family ranch in Provo Canyon. She attended Wasatch High School and then went on to Brigham Young University. On October 20, 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Glen Giles, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Together they had three boys: Michael, Kenneth, and Tracy. They raised their family in Kearns, Utah until 1976, and then spent the rest of their lives in West Valley City. Carol loved spending time with Glen, whether it was going out to dinner, camping, or their many trips to Wendover, and missed him greatly after his passing on January 26, 1995.
Carol worked for Robison Distributing for over 25 years doing secretarial work, sales, and then as a credit manager. Here, she made many long-lasting friendships, which she cherished throughout her life up until her final days, especially Vida. She enjoyed bowling with all the ladies in the many different leagues she was in and was bowling up until the age of 90 with her dear friend Shirley. Her passion was gardening and took great pride in her yard and flower beds, which she took care of up until her passing. She shared this with her many friends and neighbors, whom she was very close to and who took great care of her after Glen’s passing. She looked forward to her monthly lunch dates with her dear friend, Pauline. Carol’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, whether it was camping, gathering for holidays and parties, or sharing memories around the kitchen table. She loved reminiscing, telling stories, taking care of the family puppies, laughing, and joking around trying to keep her boys in line out on the back patio with her Bailey’s Coffee in hand. She will be remembered for her kindness, sweet spirit, and for always caring for others.
Carol is survived by her sons: Michael, Ken (Melanie), and Tracy (Juanita), along with grandsons: Ryan (Kristy), Steven (Courtney), Alex, Justin (Mary), and Cameron (Gracie); and great grandchildren: Caleb, Ammon, Harper, Chandler, Teddy, and Anna. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother Roy and sisters Mildred, and Marty; daughter in law, Susan; and grandson, Taylor.
A family graveside service was held on June 18, 2025, at the Heber City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Symbii Hospice nurses Angie, Laura, and Hiva for their kindness and generosity in taking care of our mother. They would also like to thank Independent Funeral Services for their professional services.
