1995 Braiden 2023

Braiden McKay Meldrum

April 15, 1995 — June 4, 2023

On June 4th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, Braiden McKay Meldrum earned his wings.

Braiden was born to Gordon and Laurie Meldrum on April 15th, 1995, in Cedar City, Utah. After living in Tooele for a couple of years, Braiden and his family moved to Riverton, Utah.

He had a rough start, contracting RSV shortly after his birth. He was a small infant and had a hard time fighting off the virus, this resulted in him having multiple disabilities. Although his parents were told he would never be able to walk unassisted, He was able to walk, skip and chase his brother, Kenny and sister, Ellie. He had a silent determination in all things.

Shortly after his older brother passed in 2013, Braiden moved in with Carmen Jaramillo and her family. He loved the Jaramillo family.

He did not need to talk to communicate his feelings. His cackle and smile were infectious, it was almost impossible to be upset when you were around him. He radiated light and love. A few of his favorite things included Mario, chocolate milk, Elmo, being sung to, brushing long hair, teasing the people he loved and any beverage that was not his own.

Braiden is survived by his parents, Gordon Kent Meldrum Sr (Roxanne Shapley) and Laurie Kaye McGregor Meldrum (Joseph Anthony Montoya); his caregiver, Carmen A Jaramillo (Diego L); his sister, Ellie Meldrum; his grandmothers, Karen Kaye Twitchell McGregor, Mabel Zitting Meldrum, and Joy Barlow Meldrum; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored and cared for him.

He is preceded in death by his brother, ‘Kenny’ Gordon Kent Meldrum Jr; his grandfathers, Lorenzo Watson McGregor and William Howard Meldrum; and his cousins, Travis Hamilton, Sean Leavitt, Clive Dutson, Mike Copeland, and James Dutson.

The family would like to acknowledge Leslee Silcox Shreve, Mindy Lee Anderson, and all the people at CTA Community Supports and beyond that helped take care of Braiden over the years.

Braiden’s viewing will be held on Friday, June 16th from 6 to 8pm and Saturday, June 17th from 9:30-11:30am at the LDS Stake Center (5562 West 13680 South). The graveside service will begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, June 17th at the Riverton Cemetery (1500 West 13200 South).
