Betty Jean Chadsey Neilson

Our beloved wife and mother, Betty Jean Chadsey Neilson, completed her sojourn on earth at the age of 77 years on March 31, 2024. She passed peacefully at home in West Bountiful, Utah surrounded by her family. Betty Jean was born on March 30, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gwendolyn Ruth Winegar and Virgil LeRoy Chadsey. She was the sixth of ten children. She married her sweetheart, Robert Everett Neilson, on September 26, 1968. They were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on September 26, 1975. Together they raised 4 amazing children. 

She spent her life caring for others as she raised her family, ran a daycare in her home for many years and worked as a nurse. She loved the many children she cared for in her daycare as her own and made too many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to count. She began her nursing career when she graduated from Utah Valley State College with her LPN (licensed practical nurse) degree in 1966. She worked as a nurse at Primary Children's Hospital and Salt Lake Clinic before taking a break from nursing in 1971 to raise her family. She rejoined the workforce when her youngest child started school by working at the Lion House for several years. She got back into the medical field working as a Home Health Care Aide/Aide Supervisor until she renewed her LPN license in 1991. At that point she went to work as a nurse at South Davis Community Hospital. She graduated from Weber University in 2001 with her RN (Registered Nurse) degree. She retired from full time employment in 2010 to care for her mother-in-law. She loved to sew, do puzzles, drink Coke, eat chocolate, play with her grandchildren, snuggle with her dog Abby and spend time at Bear Lake with her husband. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life. 

She is survived by her husband, Robert Everett Neilson, and children, Staci (Max), Ted (Rebecca), Bryce (Denece), and Suzan (Andy) and 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. We Love You! Til we meet again!

Friends and Family may call at a viewing on April 14, 2024 from 6-8pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 840 N 800 W, West Bountiful, Utah. Funeral Services will be held April 15, 2024 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 840 N. 800 W., West Bountiful, Utah. Viewing hours 10-11am. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
