Allexis "Lexi" Cuevas

January 15, 1990 — January 7, 2022

Our beautiful, creative, generous girl has passed away.  Allexis Ray Cuevas went into a diabetic coma on Dec. 31 and never woke up, passing away January 7, 2022 shortly before her 32nd birthday.

Allexis is a die hard animal lover and would rescue every animal if it were possible.  She was constantly collecting pets and fiercely loved her dog Koda who was always by her side. She is incredibly loyal, generous and caring to her family & friends and would do anything for anyone on that list even if it meant giving up her last dollar.  She is also an incredibly passionate, stubborn, free spirited woman who lived life on her terms.

Allexis had many health challenges starting with a brain tumor before the age of one and type 1 diabetes at the age of 8.  She struggled with seizures and diabetes her whole life but marched on and never lost hope of her future dreams.

Allexis is a melting pot of countries and cultures, her birth created a complex family tree bringing together many families:  Elewonibi(Nigeria/Canada) + Ray(US) + Doucoure(Mali) + Cuevas(Mexico).  She is the first born grandchild and as such is incredibly close to both her grandmas, Sheila Ray and Margo Elewonibi.  They are her fiercest champions, always showering her with unconditional love.

Allexis is survived by her parents Jennifer Doucoure, Mohamed Doucoure & Michael Elewonibi,  siblings Idris Terry Doucoure & Mariam Doucoure.   She never recovered from the grief she suffered with the loss of her husband, Antonio Cuevas Jr in September 2020 and will be laid to rest by his side.

Allexis turns 32 on Saturday, January 15th and we would invite all her family and friends to join us in celebrating her life with memories and stories to celebrate her.
